OpenClaw July 2026: The Control UI Grows Up

July 13, 20262 min readUpdated September 11, 2026By OpenClawBlog Team

v2026.7.1, published on July 13, is the release where the interface becomes part of the operating model. The notes describe a major Control UI and onboarding overhaul, substantial iOS, Android, and macOS updates, wider model support, and a more visible path through tasks, approvals, and Gateway health.

Onboarding checks the connection

The guided setup keeps earlier choices when it is interrupted and checks connections before saving them. That sounds basic; it prevents a half-configured provider from looking healthy just because a form was submitted.

Fresh installs still have a quick route, while custom setup remains available. If you are upgrading an older machine, compare its Node runtime and provider credentials with the current getting-started guide before trusting the shortcut.

Tasks, sessions, and approvals are visible

Live Tasks, clearer chat controls, usage and cost views, files, downloads, pairing, approvals, and Gateway health sit closer to the conversation. A selected browser tab can be paired remotely, and guarded workspace terminals are available across web and mobile surfaces.

Visibility helps only when the operator reads it. Keep approval prompts explicit for commands, files, and remote browser sessions. A green status badge is not a review of the action that follows.

Clients and channels catch up

The official apps receive work across navigation, voice, permissions, localization, files, scheduled work, offline reading, queued sends, and connection recovery. Telegram, Slack, Discord, and Apple Messages each get their own delivery and threading improvements.

After an upgrade, test the path you actually use: one text reply, one approval, and one reconnect. Then record the version and the result in your runbook.

The full release notes contain the breaking changes and migration details; this page only calls out the operator-facing shape of the release.
